From the Press Release:
Ever want to experience the mind of the insane? Director Jon Knautz’s (Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer, The Shrine) brings audiences an experience like no other. The Shrine director returns to the genre with a new approach in the independent psycho sexual thriller Goddess of Love. The film will make its world premiere at the upcoming London FrightFest 2015 on Monday, August 31st, and has also been accepted to the 48th Sitges – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, October 9-18. The film will be competing at Sitges in the “Panorama Section” for Best Feature Film.

Goddess of Love

Represented by Automatic Entertainment, the film stars Alexis Kendra (Girl House), Woody Naismith (Swelter), and Elizabeth Sandy (Starting from Scratch) and is co-written by Knautz and Kendra. Goddess of Love centers on an emotionally unstable stripper named Venus (Kendra), whose life is derailed in the wake of being dumped by her boyfriend. Brian (Naismith) was the love of Venus’ life, and the thought of him having an affair with another woman begins her volatile descent into the dark side of psychosexual insanity. Sexy and shocking in the super-stylish tradition of Brian De Palma and Roman Polanski, this erotic thriller is sure to entice audiences.

“I was very inspired by films like Taxi Driver and Repulsion, and I became fascinated with the idea of having the audience experience a film through the eyes of an individual who is completely detaching from reality,” states Knautz. “At first, you sympathize and connect with the protagonist, but as the story unravels, the viewers start to pull away as they begin to realize that the protagonist may actually be the antagonist.”

“We’re thrilled that Goddess of Love has been accepted to this year’s FrightFest and Sitges. We believe audiences will respond to the provocative nature of the film,” states Jeffrey Giles of Automatic Entertainment.

Automatic Entertainment will continue to promote both domestic and international rights at upcoming markets.
