An Early Look at Sam Worthington as Perseus

Most everyone seems to agree that Sam Worthington was the best thing about the recent Terminator: Salvation so there’s little doubt he’ll be able to hold his own against such heavy hitters as Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes in Warner Brothers’ upcoming retelling of the Perseus myth, Clash of the Titans.

A reader of /Film provided them with a magazine scan (probably from Empire) of Worthington in full Perseus mode, and he definitely looks like a man on a mission! What is that mission? Here’s a synopsis:

Helpless to save his family from Hades (Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate, and create his own destiny.

Look for Louis Leterrier’s version of this classic tale to hit theatres March 26, 2010.

I really like that funky looking shield he’s got.

Y’know, someone (from one of the studios) should try to get Harryhausen’s unproduced Trojan’s script produced. It’s mentioned in his ‘An Animated Life’ book and it sounded really cool.

Nothing there to wet my appetite either visually or by story.

      Dull, dull, duller, dullest.
