It was earlier this year when Tim Burton revealed a sequel to Beetlejuice is being developed, which he is primed and ready to direct. Michael Keaton confirmed he’ll be returning to play the ghost with the most, and now Winona Ryder has solidified her involvement. Read on!

During an interview on “Late Night with Seth Myers” last night, Myers asked the actress about Beetlejuice 2, and she enthusiastically confirmed that the sequel will not be without Lydia Deetz.

I think I can confirm it,” Ryder announced. “It was very hush-hush, top secret, and then [Tim Burton] was doing some press for Big Eyes and he did an on-camera interview and said, ‘Oh yeah, we’re doing it. And Winona’s going to be in it.’ So if he said it, I can [say it]. But I really don’t know much more than anybody else.”

Seth Grahame-Smith wrote the script for Beetlejuice 2, which is said to be a decades-later sequel to the 1988 classic.

I’ve emailed with Michael Keaton. I know he’s excited about the idea. I know Tim is excited about the idea,” the writer recently noted. “Where it stands now is Tim’s got to get ready to make [Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children], and then hopefully we are set, deals are done, and we’re waiting in the wings ready to go right after Peregrine’s wraps up. The ideal timeline is we’re really getting into it toward the end of this year.
