Studios sure are getting gimmicky with their marketing of horror movies, but I have to say I kinda dig it. I’d rather Sony spend some time making The Messengers sound cool and giving horror fans a chance to interact with it than see them just slide it into theaters and hope someone notices.
Of course, the fact that it’s the U.S. debut of The Pang Bros. (sorta) and was written by a friend of the site is going to have me in theaters on February 2nd without a doubt. If you need some more persuading, perhaps you should check out the new testing system Sony has thrown on the official site for The Messengers to see if you can tap into “the other side” like the kids in the movie can.
Again, it’s a bit hokey, but it’s a fun way to spend a few minutes, and who knows, maybe you’ll discover untapped superpowers in the process!
