Poor James Caviezel. No matter what movie he stars in, he’s probably going to be forever known as Jesus. I suppose there are worse things an actor can be remembered for than playing Christ. Having just finished fighting an alien monster in Outlander, Caviezel will next be seen on DVD this August battling more earthly terrors on his way to Nature’s Grave. God help him.
Originally titled Long Weekend, Nature’s Grave is director Jamie Blanks (Urban Legend, Valentine) near shot-for-shot remake of a moody 1978 Australian chiller about a bickering couple from the city (Caviezel and Claudia Karvan of Aquamarine) that head out for a long weekend getaway on a secluded beach and find themselves on the wrong side of mother nature after not showing it the proper respect. Bugs and snakes and other local animals of the land, air, and sea don’t take kindly to these city slickers tossing their trash about or shooting at the wildlife for kicks.
Universal will be releasing the low budget cautionary tale to DVD on August 4th. No word yet on what – if any at all, extras will be included on the disc. Have a look at the trailer.
