Gears of War 4 will contain much more horror than the previous installments, according to developer Rod Fergusson from development company The Coalition.
He was quoted by IGN as saying:
“We’re going back to something personal, intimate, dark, and mysterious, being afraid of the boogeyman… The Coalition is returning to what made the first game so interesting and original — that sense of mystery, things going bump in the night.”
With Microsoft’s Halo series having a solid focus on sci-fi action, it comes as no surprise that their other space shooter is moving away from its traditional action route and embracing horror. The Xbox One has been criticized for its lack of exclusives, but hopefully now the fans will have something to scream about.
What’s more, Microsoft also announced that purchasing the Ultimate Edition of Gears of War on Xbox One will grant backwards capability to all other games in the franchise.
