Katie Cassidy Joins Nightmare on Elm Street

One two, Ruby’s coming for you … That’s right, Freddy; you’ve got some stiff competition headed your way via “Supernatural”‘s Katie Cassidy!
Shock Till You Drop scored the official word that the young actress who won our demon-loving hearts on the stellar CW show (seriously, if you’re not watching “Supernatural”, you’re missing out on some of the best of horror on TV) has signed on to play the character of Kris, the second female lead in Samuel Bayer’s reboot of the 1984 Wes Craven classic A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Katie, who also stars in the CBS series “Harper’s Island“, will be joining the previously announced Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Thomas Dekker, and Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger.
Shooting begins in just a few days in the Chicago area, and the film is set to hit theaters on April 16, 2010.
