The final piece seems to have fallen into place for the upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street reboot: At last Freddy has his new Nancy, and she’s definitely not a household name … at least not yet.
According to Bloody-Disgusting, Rooney Mara (Urban Legends: Bloody Mary) is in “final negotiations” to fill Heather Langenkamp’s shoes as Nancy Thompson in Platinum Dunes’ upcoming Elm Street remake. As you’re no doubt aware, the project represents director Samuel Bayer’s first feature after a long, successful career in music videos. But it’s looking like he’ll be surrounded by more than enough talent to pull it off considering previously announced cast members include Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy, Thomas Dekker as Jesse, and Kyle Gallner as Quentin. Rooney is in good company indeed!
What you might not know about Ms. Mara, however, is that she oversees the charity Faces of Kibera, whose goal is to build an orphanage outside of the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya. Always nice to see an up-and-coming actress whose beauty is more than just skin deep.
