Third Teaser Poster for The Graves

Published

on

The third teaser poster for Brian Pulido’s The Graves found its way into our inbox today amongst all the offers from African princes looking to make us wealthy, but we’ve decided to leave those rich pricks in the lurch just to stay here and bring you the news!

This one shows Patti Tindall as Becka Crane — born and raised in remote Unity, Arizona, Becka is the town historian. If it happened in Unity, Becka knows all about it and that’s her curse. Saddled with the horrifying truth about Unity, and Skull City Mine, she dreams of escape. But as Reverend Abraham Stockton’s trusted confidante, her only escape may be death.

Patti Tindall (Death of a Ghost Hunter) portrays Becka as a fragile “touched” woman on the verge of exploding. In a town of the insane, she may be the only sane one.

Official Synopsis
Megan and Abby Graves (Clare Grant and Jillian Murray) are inseparable sisters. Megan is a self-assured ass kicker. Abby is a caustic, Hot Topic Goth afraid of her own shadow. They couldn’t be less alike, but they share a life-long obsession with comics, pop culture, and rock ‘n roll. Simply put, they are beautiful geeks.

In a few days Megan will start a new job in New York. To send her off in style, the sisters go on a trip to uncharted Arizona in search of kitchy roadside attractions.

Instead, they’re lured to Skull City Mine, an abandoned mine town. But Skull City is anything but abandoned — and there’s no way out.

The sisters are now prey, forced to unleash their most primitive instincts in a desperate fight for survival against unspeakable horrors — both human and supernatural:

Caleb aka “Pig Man” (Bill Moseley), the twisted, wife-seeking serial killer, Reverend Abraham Stockton (Tony Todd), the insane leader of The Church of Devout Ascension, Deacon Luke (D. Randall Blythe), the church’s enforcer who is quite possibly a cannibal, Darlene Atwood (Amanda Wyss), the seemingly friendly waitress at Screamer’s diner who delivers tourists to their doom, Jonah Lee Atwood (Shane Stevens) – the ruthlessly efficient, reluctant killer and “Mama” Heinbecker (Barbara Glover) – the cold-hearted ticket taker who’s “handy” with knitting needles.

When Megan suffers a mortal wound, Abby must save her sister, but to do so, she must confront her fears and unlock the mystery of Skull City alone.

Can Abby survive Skull City’s threats? Can she rescue Megan or are the Graves doomed to a fate much worse than death?

Horror Earns Several Nominations at This Year’s Spirit Awards

Published

on

While horror as a genre may not get the love and respect it deserves at the Academy Awards, other award ceremonies are proving that they are ahead of the curve and are giving the genre the appreciation it so rightfully deserves. A perfect example came about to day when the 2018 Film Independent Spirit Awards released their list of nominees and its packed to the brim with horror titles.

Jordan Peele’s Get Out netted five nominations, include Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Male Lead, and Best Editing. Most Beautiful Island, The Transfiguration, and A Ghost Story are nominated for the John Cassavetes Award, which highlights the best features made for less than $500,000. Super Dark Times‘ director Kevin Phillips was nominated for the Kiehl’s Someone to Watch award. Lastly, The Killing of a Sacred Deer got two nominations, one for Best Supporting Male and one for Best Cinematography.

We offer our congratulations to the nominees and wish them all the best of luck! Keep making amazing horror and keep pushing boundaries to show the rest of the world just how powerful, important, and necessary horror is to our society!

Inoperable starring Danielle Harris Gets New Poster and Limited December Release Date

Published

on

Last year we here at Dread Central premiered the trailer for the upcoming Danielle Harris hospital horror flick Inoperable from director Christopher Lawrence Chapman.

Today we have the film’s all-new poster and news that the film will finally be hitting select theaters on December 1st.

I just watched the trailer again myself and I have to say I am really looking forward to the film. I dig the location, the hurricane aspect, the psychological horror of the situation and the whole she-bang.

Count me to check out the film as soon as it hits Blu-ray and/or VOD (hopefully) within the new year. We’ll let you know when we hear more.

What do you think of the trailer and new poster for Inoperable? Let us know below!

The film is directed by Christopher Lawrence Chapman from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jeff Miller. The film stars Danielle Harris, Katie Keene, and Isabella Sofia Menna.

Robert Kurtzman’s Creature Corps handled the film’s makeup effects, with David Henson Greathouse (Syfy’s “FaceOff”) supervising, and he, Barry Aslinger, and Beki Ingram handling the bulk of the effects. Philip Jessen is unit production manager, Ashley Eberbach is first assistant director, and Bobby Marinelli is production designer.

Inoperable hits select theaters December 1st.

Synopsis:

A young woman wakes up in a seemingly evacuated hospital with a hurricane approaching. She realizes the storm has awakened malevolent forces, trapping her in a time loop. She must escape the hospital before the storm passes or she will be trapped in its halls forever.

Freddy’s Greatest Hits Vinyl Re-issue Is a Must-Own

Published

on

Strange Disc Records has just announced that it will be releasing “Freddy’s Greatest Hits – The Elm Street Group” on vinyl starting this Wednesday with pre-orders expected to ship in January 2018.

Not only that but Mondo announced they will be releasing an exclusive variant pressed on “Freddy Sweater” striped vinyl. This LP from Mondo is limited to 400 and will cost you $25.

For those who might not know, “Freddy’s Greatest Hits” was originally released in 1987. The record contains nine tracks (covers, originals, and instrumentals) with Robert Englund doing the voice of Freddy over the top.

I don’t know about you but this has just made my list of must-own items. But I’d prefer an original copy. That said an original copy is probably hundreds of buck on eBay as opposed to this version for a mere $25 bucks. Not bad.

You can check out the full track listing and a sample song below. Then make sure to hit us up and let us know if you’ll be snagging a copy in the comments below!

Track Listing

1. “Do The Freddy”

The lyrics were changed to fit Freddy Krueger persona and elements

2. “Obsession”
