Platinum Says No New TCM, F13 Update

Now this is the kind of smart thinking I like to hear from the world of Hollywood; Brad Fuller, one of the producers at Platinum Dunes, told the folks at B-D last night that there are absolutely no plans for another Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Finally, someone admits they don’t want to create a trilogy.

The blood covered disgusting guys also learned that the Dunes are still prepping The Horsemen, an original script by David Callaham that has Dennis Quaid attached as a detective who discovers a connection between his latest case and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, as well as a movie called Alone and a new version of The Birds, which has been mentioned many times before.

For those of you concerned about the Hitchcock classic being remade fear not; there’s no way most of today’s audiences would sit through a shot-for-shot retelling Alfred’s classic film. Instead they’re going back to the source material and starting with a fresh couple of minds. Expect to hear more on The Birds very soon!

Finally, Fangoria talked to Fuller, as well, who told them that there are still plans for a new Friday th 13th movie (remake, sequel, whatever). The main thing that was holding it back was a rights issue, but that seems to have been resolved; “We’ll be doing it with Paramount and New Line.” he told Fango. That’s the spirit!

Stay tuned for more Platinum Dunes news as what looks like it will be their biggest year yet gets rolling!
