Kurt Russell is Death Proof

That beard gotta itchWord just came in from Butane.

During the Grind House panel at Comic-Con, it was announced that none other than Kurt Russell has been cast in Tarantino’s latest genre offering, “Death Proof,” playing the lead villian — Stuntman Mike.

This is very good news for horror fans as we’ve been longing to see Kurt get back to doing something badass. To further sweeten the pot, it was said that John Carpenter is in talks to do the music. In early test footage of “Death Proof,” some of Carpenter’s music from Escape From New York has been used and apparently fits the theme of the film perfectly.

Friggin’ sweet!

It was also mentioned during the panel that after wrapping up “Death Proof,” Tarantino will be working on two anime prequels to Kill Bill — one about the Bride and one about Bill himself.

And speaking of Grind House, Sean Clark reports that it won’t be your typical anthology type film. Instead both “Planet Terror” (Rodriguez’s entry) and “Death Proof” will be feature-length films in their own right.

Stay tuned for more from Comic-Con as it comes. Providing Butane and Clark remain sober of course!
