Paramount Puts Damn Nation on Fast Track

Just in case there aren’t enough book-to-screen adaptations for us to keep track of already, news of another came today: Damn Nation, which was published by Dark Horse Comics in 2005. It was written by Andrew Cosby with artwork by Jason Shawn Alexander.
STYD reports that Paramount owns distribution rights to Damn Nation and is pushing it to the top of its “to do” list. What’s got the studio so excited? Here’s the synopsis from Amazon:
The United States is shut off from the world by concrete barricades and barbed wire – not because of what might get in, but what might get out. A vampire plague has spread from sea to shining sea and when a small holdout of scientists trapped outside of Buffalo, N.Y. discover a cure, it’s up to a Special Ops team from the President’s current offices in London to go in and get it. Yet, not everyone in the world wants to see America back in the saddle again …
Shock’s story further provides a brief update on the Marc Forster-helmed World War Z, also coming from Paramount, as follows: “Production offices are set up, and Forster is in early pre-production.” Not much, but since I’m a big Forster fan from way back, even a little goes a long way with me. Hopefully we’ll have some casting news on both WWZ and Damn Nation soon.
