Misty Effects

If there’s one film I think is going to kick everyone’s ass in 2007 more than anything else (and yes, I’m including Grindhouse in that statement), it’s Frank Darrabont’s long-awaited adaptation of The Mist.

To help further cement it as a must-see horror flick of the new year, Fangoria learned today that KNB EFX have been hired on to bring the practical effects to life. Some would call that decision a “no-brainer”, but it’s nice to hear it in an official capacity. Additionally, KNB’s Greg Nicotero will be handling directing duties for the film’s second unit, his fourth gig in such a capacity.

For all the non-real monstrosities of the Stephen King story, Café FX will be dolling out the digital goodness, a job they did very well with in both Pan’s Labyrinth and Sin City in the past. Thomas Jane is still in as the lead and production is aiming for a February 20th start date.

The Mist has a tentative release date of November 21st, 2007. Since it’s Dimension that could change at any times for any number of reasons, but we’ll hold out hope that things won’t come to that. Stay tuned for more very soon!
