Nina Dobrev Lands Lead in Vampire Diaries

Nina Dobrev, whom you may remember from the godawful “Fright Night” with a werewolf rip-off Never Cry Werewolf, has landed herself a new gig. One with a bit more bite.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Dobrev will play Elena Gilbert, a young woman caught between quarreling vampire brothers Stefan and Damon.

The pilot was penned by Kevin Williamson and “Kyle XY”‘s Julie Plec and is based upon a series of young adult novels written by L.J. Smith. “Dexter” and True Blood” alumnus Marcos Siega is set to direct.
