Hasbro Has Their Say on Ouija Film

Ouija: The Movie (click for larger image)You see, here’s the thing … if you believe that anything made by Hasbro or Parker Brothers can be used to communicate with the dead, then I got nothing for ya, man! For the love of Christ it’s reality check time! I mean really!

Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner gave MTV the lowdown on the status of the Ouija film that’s currently in development at Platinum Dunes and Universal Pictures.

“Half of the people that play Ouija as a séance think it’s just a game,”says Goldner, who is executive producing. “The other half thinks it’s much more serious than that. So that idea, is this real or is this just sort of imagined? Is this something that’s done by the participants or is this something that’s really from beyond?” David Berenbaum is scripting, and Goldner says don’t expect a Jumanji-style romp through the supernatural, but “of course breaking through to the other side is something we’re all kind of interested in. It’s such an intriguing idea, and that’s something we want to explore in this movie.”

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

I think I’ll just keep popping “WitchBoard” in the ol’ dvd player every few years.

  • hellbilly_drp

Hasbro’s boards absolutely work, man. Unlike DIY boards from Witches, however, its pay-per-minute.

  • Foywonder

Get ready, folks, because there’s a lot more like this one the way – http://foywonder.livejournal.com/156772.html

  • Kane86

No what the fuck. I mean Transformers is understandable. But this will not stand

  • The Unknown Murderer

Hmmm. I don’t care who makes a Ouija Board, there’s no way in hell I’m touching it. That said, to quote in the style of John Stewart in Half Baked: Have you ever used a Ouija Board…on WEED?!?

  • Styling Shatner

Well, of course Platinum Dunes is involved with this. I mean, I just should have known before I even clicked on the link to read the story.

“David Berenbaum is scripting, and Goldner says don’t expect a Jumanji-style romp through the supernatural, but “of course breaking through to the other side is something we’re all kind of interested in.”

I’d prefer it if they broke through the 4th wall… but instead I know we’ll get a GRITTY movie filled with LENS FLARES and JUMP SCARES.

  • Sirand

    Ouija. It’s a man’s game.
