#SDCC15: Fox TV Bringing Scream Queens, American Horror Story, Salem, Sleepy Hollow, and Damien

Published

on

Remember back when everyone complained that San Diego Comic-Con was being overtaken by Hollywood studios to promote their new films?  Well, now the movies are being overshadowed by television, and no one seems to be too upset about it.  Not when those TV shows include the likes of horror favorites “American Horror Story,” “Salem,” “Sleepy Hollow,” and newcomers “Scream Queens” and Damien.”

First out of the gate with an announcement of what they’ll be bringing to the 2015 SDCC, Twentieth Century Fox Television has revealed a lineup that includes all of the above. Read on for the early details (exact dates and times to come)!

Attendees will be treated to the world premiere screening of “Scream Queens” on Saturday, July 11th, as well as a joint panel between “Scream Queens” and “American Horror Story: Freak Show/Hotel” (more info below).

Along with panels and screenings, Fox will have a two-story booth on the convention center floor for star-studded autograph signings and activities including distribution of exclusive 2015 Fox Fanfare poster tubes, collectible mini-posters, premium giveaways, DVD sales, and more.

“American Horror Story” / “Scream Queens” Panel
Get ready to scream! It’s a Comic-Con horror fest when members of the all-star cast of Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan’s Fox comedy  “Scream Queens” (Jamie Lee Curtis—the original “scream queen,” Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Skyler Samuels, and Keke Palmer) come face to face with the stars of Murphy and Falchuk’s FX dramas “American Horror Story: Freak Show” and the upcoming “American Horror Story: Hotel” (Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Matt Bomer). This lively gathering of headliners promises laughs, scares, and secrets from the sets.

“Damien” Preview/Panel
From executive producer Glen Mazzara (“The Walking Dead,” “The Shield”), “Damien” follows the adult life of Damien Thorn, the mysterious child from the 1976 motion picture who has grown up seemingly unaware of the satanic forces around him. Haunted by his past, Damien must now come to terms with his true destiny — that he is the Antichrist. Starring Bradley James (“Merlin”), Barbara Hershey, Megalyn Echikunwoke, and Omid Abtahi. Get an exclusive look at the exciting first season of A&E’s drama series “Damien” followed by a Q&A with cast and producers – plus a very special guest appearance!

“Salem” Panel
It’s a witch war! Join the star-studded cast including Shane West, Janet Montgomery, Seth Gabel, Ashley Madekwe, and Iddo Goldberg, along with executive producers Brannon Braga and Adam Simon, for a look back at intriguing footage from the supernatural second season, from WGN America and Fox 21 Television Studios. Moderated discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A.

“Sleepy Hollow” Panel
Everyone’s favorite witnesses return to Comic-Con! Join Tom Mison, Nicole Beharie, Lyndie Greenwood, and the executive producers of the hit Fox show for a first peek into the highly anticipated third season.

Such Sights to Show You – 11/22/17

Published

on

Each week, we’ve been bringing you a new, original one-off comic from artist Kevin D. Clark. This week, Clark skewers not only Black Friday but also Cyber Monday in one fell swoop, commenting on the predatory and mob-like nature of consumers at public stores while also addressing the glut of online sales that slam workers during the holidays. You can read the comic for yourself below.

About the Artist:
Kevin D. Clark is a cartoonist from Scotland who grew up watching classic monster movies, cartoons and wrestling, as well as reading comics. He started drawing at an early age and hasn’t stopped since. His sense of humor is a veritable cornucopia of the wacky and weird inspired by the likes of Monty Python, Mel Brooks, “MST3K,” Rab C. Nesbitt, as well as his older brother.

Kevin was diagnosed with Aspergers and because of that, he tries to push himself to work as hard as possible. Kevin also has a self-published comic book and helps run a film club for autistic people. He has recently earned a degree in cartooning from the London Art College and he’s pretty sure that he could take an octopus in a fight.

Exclusive: Wolfmen of Mars Debut New Group Brass Hearse and Here’s a New Song

Published

on

A couple of months ago, we told you about Brass Hearse, a new group that features the members of Boston rock/synth group Wolfmen of Mars. Essentially the same style but now with vocals, Brass Hearse will immediately stand out to fans of John Carpenter but those who listen closer will pick up on elements of The Cure and even some Type O Negative. If you’ve been looking for some goth-y electronic rock with splashes of industrial thrown in hither and yon, I have a feeling you’re going to dig the hell out of Brass Hearse!

Previously, Wolfmen of Mars’ Luke told us, “It’s Wolfmen of Mars with vocals, but very much its own thing. A bit darker, a little bit more new wave. It’s a hard album to describe. Ron Rochondo from Ice Dragon wrote all the vocals and they fit the music perfectly. I can’t wait to share the tunes with you!

Well, today is the day that we get to share a taste of the new tunes with all of you! Below is the premiere of the track “Rain Grey, Dark Sky”, which swirls and pumps in a controlled frenzy, the verse containing itself only to open wide during the chorus, the sonorous vocals suddenly crying out like a ghastly specter.

Brass Hearse’s debut album will be available on vinyl and as a digital download on December 1 from Burning Witches Records. Meanwhile, you can download “Ran Grey, Dark Sky” via Bandcamp.

Exclusive: Sean Patrick Flanery-Led Lasso Ropes in Multiple Offers After AFM Appearance

Published

on

Lasso, a horror film starring Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints, Saw 3D), was in attendance at this year’s American Film Market in Santa Monica and it seems to have made quite the impression! The film is currently in the middle of several distribution offers, some of which include theatrical distribution plans. No choice has been made by the Lasso team as they’re still hearing more and more offers but it’s certainly intriguing and exciting to see a horror film get so much attention!

Director Evan Cecil tells Dread Central, ““I am crazy flattered and honored at all the attention and interest Lasso received during the American Film Market and is still receiving from our industry peers. A lot of effort was put into making something different and interesting but most of all entertaining and fun to watch. Of course, we are hoping for a theatrical deal because that would be beyond cool, but also because the big screen is still the best way to watch a horror film. I love the thought of horror fans getting to enjoy Lasso all huge!

We can also reveal that we’ve been told that the film has 20 unique kills during its current 97-minute runtime, which means an average of one kill for approximately every four minutes! If you’re into horror for the body count, sounds like Lasso is going to be right up your alley!

Cecil directs and also produces alongside Todd J Myers and Elaine Gibson. Flanery stars with Lindsey Morgan (“The 100”), Karen Grassle, Andrew Jacobs, Travis Andre Ross, Heather Mignon, and Skyler Cooper.

Synopsis:
Kit (Lindsey Morgan) and Simon (Andrew Jacobs) are two young leaders of an Active Senior Tour group who go out on an adventure to a small-town Rodeo festival located deep in the woods. It’s a great experience for the group…until they try to leave. Simon and Kit must save themselves, and whatever seniors they can, from becoming victims of a deadly Rodeo Ritual. Along the way they join up with another unexpected group of victims, including a one-armed cowboy, Ennis (Sean Patrick Flanery), Rosheen, the Rodeo queen, and Trish, a powerhouse female bull rider. Together the group must fight to survive the night from relentless bloodthirsty cowboys on the hunt for human livestock.
