Toronto After Dark Film Fest Opens its 2015 Call for Entries

The Toronto After Dark Film Festival is one of the world’s leading showcases of thrilling cinema, and their 10th Annual Call for Entries is now open.  Read on for the details!

We pride ourselves on discovering and promoting all forms of international and independent thrilling genre cinema including horror, sci-fi, fantasy, animation, crime, action, suspense, thriller, documentary, music videos, and cult/bizarre films, both in short form and feature-length.

This year Toronto After Dark runs for nine nights, October 15-23, 2015, and will screen almost 50 films, including both shorts and features. Our Festival is uniquely run by film fans for film fans and enjoys incredible loyalty and support from the large film-appreciating community in Toronto. Last year Toronto After Dark was attended by over 11,000 enthusiastic genre film fans and over 200 members of the film press and industry. Filmmakers were delighted in the fantastic response that included a record number of attendees, overwhelmingly positive reviews, and distribution deals.

Toronto After Dark Film Festival seeks independent feature-length and short films from around the world in any of the following main genre groups:

  • Horror, Supernatural
  • Sci-Fi, Fantasy
  • Animation
  • Crime, Action, Thriller, Suspense
  • Cult, Bizarre, Genre-defying, Experimental
  • Documentaries with a genre-related or cult/bizarre subject matter
  • Music Videos with a genre-related or cult/bizarre aesthetic

SHORT FILM ELIGIBILITY:
– Completed after January 1st, 2013
– Completed Films, Works-in-Progress, and Rough Cuts are all acceptable for submission
– Run time of between 1 and 29 minutes
– Not previously submitted to the Festival
– Films in a language other than English must be subtitled in English

FEATURE FILM ELIGIBILITY:
– Completed after January 1st, 2013
– Completed Films, Works-in-Progress, and Rough Cuts are all acceptable for submission
– Run time of 60 minutes or longer
– Screening at our festival would be its Toronto Premiere (only applies to feature films)
– Must not have played in Canada on TV/cable/satellite, nor be available on DVD/Blu-Ray in Canada, nor available publicly online (only applies to feature films)
– Not previously submitted to the Festival
– Films in a language other than English must be subtitled in English

2015 FILM ENTRY DEADLINES: JUNE 5 (EARLY), JUNE 26 (REGULAR), JULY 17 (FINAL), JULY 31 (EXTENDED) – 11:59 PM PT ON EACH DATE.  Submit “Early” to avoid paying higher entry fees.  

Please note: Toronto After Dark only accepts online screeners (no mail-in discs) submitted via these film festival submission platforms: Film Freeway, Withoutabox (WAB), and FestHome.
