The Sitges Film Festival is one we’ve been dreaming of attending for several years, and this year, instead of having to travel to Spain, several of the fest’s previous entries are coming to America!

From the Press Release:
The cinema seen at the Sitges – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia can now also be enjoyed in the USA on October 16th and 17th, coinciding with Sitges 2015, thanks to the Sitges America Tour, a circuit including five different films screened around theaters in several North American cities. Yet another new step towards internationalizing the Sitges Film Festival, following another recent experience in Italy.

The Sitges America Tour is born from an agreement between the Sitges – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia and the Shoreline Entertainment Distribution Company, in an effort to internationalize the Festival, to put it on the map for American audiences and to contribute to strengthening its position as the number one fantastic genre film festival in the world. The Sitges America Tour will be programming five films at different theaters belonging to the company Theatres at Mall of America which are all previously unreleased in the United States and that reflect the essence and profile that set Sitges apart as the top fantastic film festival in the world.

The first title that has been confirmed to be screened during the Sitges America Tour is El incidente, a Mexican sci-fi film directed by Isaac Ezban, which tells two parallel stories about a series of characters trapped in illogical, endless spaces. Two brothers and a cop on an infinite staircase and a family traveling down a highway that stretches out way beyond the horizon. A psychological horror piece that we had the chance to see at Sitges 2014 and that is its director’s feature length film debut.

With this initiative, the Festival expands its horizons and bolsters its commitment to internationalization, which is one of the Festival’s most important strategic lines for future years.

Sitges 2015 runs October 9-18. For more info visit the official Sitges website.
