Casting Switch for Transsiberian

Emily Mortimer gets a seat on the TranssiberianSome casting changes have already taken place for Brad Anderson’s latest film, the Filmax-produced thriller Transsiberian, and it’s for one of the oddest reasons I think I’ve ever heard.

The Hollywood Reporter got the word that Emily Mortimer (pictured) is joining the cast, taking the place of previously announced Samantha Morton. What happened to Morton? Did she get cold feet about shooting in both Beijing and Russia? No, of course not. A ceiling fell on her. That’s what the trade said (and why would they make that up?); a ceiling fell on her in her London apartment, leaving her unable to work during the film’s schedule. That’s a new one on me! We hope she’ll be okay and back on her feet soon!

Meanwhile, production on Transsiberian began last week in Lithuania, a far cry from Anderson’s roots in and around the Boston area! For those unsure, Transsiberian is about a couple (Mortimer and Woody Harrelson) who take the famous title train from Russia to China in the hopes of rekindling their relationship but instead get mixed up in all matter of deceit, corruption, and murder.
