MPAA rates Friday, Superbeasto & moreA whole bunch of films have been granted ratings recently, among them a film or two I’m surprised took this long to settle on a letter for.
Chief among those is “>Friday the 13th, which is out in two weeks. Thankfully the Marcus Nispel-helmed rebooted reimagined remake was given a solid “R” for strong bloody violence, some graphic sexual content, language and drug material.. Huzzah!

Rob Zombie’s venture into animation, The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, has also been granted an “R” rating for strong crude and sexual content throughout, nude graphics, language, violence and gore. “Nude graphics”; that’s a new one on me!

On a lighter note “>Cirque du Freak was given a “PG-13”, so expect to see a mad marketing push for this as its release date approaches, and the animated “>Monsters Vs. Aliens was deemed “PG” for sci-fi action, some crude humor and mild language. Finally, the latest from Alex Proyas, Knowing, passed with a “PG-13” due to disaster sequences, disturbing images and brief strong language.

As long as that strong language is brief, you miss out on an “R”; keep that in mind indie filmmakers worldwide!
