Currently available for instant streaming on Netflix, Leigh Janiak’s debut feature Honeymoon was one of the best horror films of last year, indicating a bright future for the female filmmaker. And Hollywood, unsurprisingly, has just scooped her up. Read on for details!

The Wrap reports today that Sony Pictures has hired Janiak to co-write and direct a remake of 1996’s The Craft, which she will script with Honeymoon collaborator Phil Graziadei.

The original starred Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell, and Rachel True as Catholic school students who use the dark arts to settle scores and resolve their personal issues. Eventually, black magic tears the group apart. Andrew Fleming directed the film, which grossed nearly $25 million at the domestic box office.

Original Craft producer Doug Wick will return to produce with Lucy Fisher.
