Who doesn’t like veteran horror actress Lin Shaye? Honestly? If you’re reading this article and you’re not a Lin Shaye fan, then you need to seriously reevaluate your priorities. Because you know what? Shaye is awesome, and I really don’t need anyone else to tell me that.

For the majority of mainstream moviegoers, Shaye is probably best known for her work in the Insidious franchise or There’s Something About Mary. However, she’s appeared in countless genre flicks over the years, including The Signal, 2001 Maniacs, Critters, and A Nightmare on Elm Street, among many others. If I had to pick a performance that stands out among the rest, I’d go with Jean-Baptiste Andrea and Fabrice Canepa’s underrated 2003 outing Dead End.

To celebrate her numerous contributions to the world of horror, the folks at Wizard World Comic Con in Philadelphia officially declared that Lin Shaye is the “Godmother of Horror.” Shaye was understandably thrilled with the honor, attributing her current success to her “youthful fan base.

Wizard World spokesman Jerry Milani described giving the “Godmother of Horror” honor to Shaye as a “no-brainer,” adding, “Lin’s legacy in films of all genres make her queen of the movie scene, and her unparalleled, haunting performances in so many movies, especially the Insidious franchise, make her the obvious and deserved choice for the Godmother of Horror Award.

Lin Shaye fans can check out her latest cinematic endeavor, Insidious: Chapter 3, when it lands in theaters throughout the U.S. on June 5. Check out the trailer below.
