The guys behind the upcoming Jack Ketchum adaptation, “>Offspring, just dropped an exclusive webisode in our laps, detailing the making of the film, as well as the exclusive new pic you see to your right. Pretty badass, eh?
”In less than two weeks, distributors in Berlin will get to see Offspring for the first time!” says director Andrew van den Houten, ”I am eager to see the film with an audience and am thrilled we were able to get it done in time for the Berlin Film Market.”
For those unaware, the story of Offspring follows a group of cannibals who have lived just under the radar of society for years as they come out and start hunting us in the open. ”As a Ketchum fan, I am proud to see this story reach the screen in all its glory.” Van den Houten continues, ”I loved working with all the actors, including Art Hindle, Eric Kastel and Pollyanna McIntosh, and found the subject matter allowed everybody to create something new and fresh. Cannibals are under explored in the horror genre and we were able to capture images you have never seen before. Ultimately, my goal was to keep it as real and intense as Ketchum had it written. After things get going, as is in the book, we don’t slow down for a beat!”
Van den Houten’s production company, Moderncine, have provided us with the third Offspring webisode; the first two were on Fangoria and Bloody Disgusting, respectively, so check it out and keep the word on Offspring alive! ”As we are independently financed and ran, Moderncine relies on the fans to spread the word. We are always pleased to work with the folks at Dread Central to share our latest and hope you keep checking in here for more updates coming soon!”
