I’m disappointed the extras on the criterion edition still haven’t been combined with the docs produced by mgm. Don’t think I’ll upgrade till an ultimate edition is released. and if it never is, then I’ll have to be happy with my non-animorphic, but beautifully put together criterion edition.

This is a movie that’s become easy to dismiss based on the sheer impact it had when it came out. Because surely no movie since (apart from perhaps THE MATRIX) became such a quoted and parodied piece of pop culture.

But I watched it again about a year ago and I was blown away all over again by how superbly made it is. Script, direction and performances are all first-rate.

So hopefully this Blu-Ray release lives up to the film itself.

I didn’t love it the first time I saw it — it had been so built up by the time I got around to renting it that it was very anti-climactic. Really looking forward to watching it again on Blu-ray. I’m hoping it blows me away like my recent re-viewing of The Shining did.
