From the Press Release:
While it was a fairly slow night for horror at the "83rd Annual Academy Awards", a couple of genre flicks did manage to take home some gold, and for that we are thankful!
Now this is some award show news we are definitely happy to report! Black Swan took home four major prizes from the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards.
On February 13th at the 2011 Orange British Academy Film Awards, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) will be honouring Sir Christopher Lee, one of the horror genre's most beloved icons, with its Academy Fellowship. “It’s a very unexpected but very great honour to find myself in such distinguished company to receive the fellowship", said Lee of the award.
In between the scenes of Natalie Portman finding new and exciting places in which to masturbate, there were some pretty cool effects sequences in Darren Aronofsky's award-winning film Black Swan, and we've got a look at just some of how it was all pulled off. The Golden Globe winning, Oscar nominated sensation Black Swan is officially on its way to both Blu-ray and DVD, and though information is on the scarce side of the fence, we already have a look at the artwork for you!
Official Synopsis:
While The King's Speech leads the pack with twelve Oscar nominations, Black Swan did the horror genre proud by landing five prestigious nominations earlier today. And the much maligned The Wolfman made a surprise appearance as well with a nod in the Makeup category for Rick Baker and Dave Elsey.
And the award for dirtiest sounding headline goes to ... Yeah, we know. Sorry, but we just couldn't resist. The Golden Globes have come and gone, and the genre didn't see much love at the end of the night.
It's been a long time since we've seen a genre film garner the type of praise that's being heaped upon Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan, especially in terms of awards and nominations, and we couldn't be happier about it. But does Trembles agree?
Synopsis:
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominees for its 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards this morning, and it looks like vampires are out but zombies are definitely in as "The Walking Dead" replaces "True Blood" among the Best Television Series - Drama nominees.
The Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) has announced the nominees for its 16th annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards, and Darren Aronofsky's
Black Swan (review here) received an unprecedented 12 nominations.
