With principal photography wrapping up in September, distributor Shochiku have revealed the first poster for their live-action Tokyo Ghoul movie. I have to admit, they’ve done a pretty good job of recreating the iconic mask that series protagonist Ken Kaneki wears to hid his identity as a ghoul with an insatiable appetite for human flesh. The mask featured in the film was created by designer Masanori Morikawa, and it will be on display at the Japanese anime/manga-themed Jump Fiesta event from December 18-19.

Directed by Kentarō Hagiwara and based on Sui Ishida’s bestselling manga series, Tokyo Ghoul stars Masataka Kubota, Fumika Shimizu and Yū Aoi. It will hit Japanese screens next summer.
