A while back we reported that Marcus Dunstan's The Collector wouldn't be getting a home video release until April of 2010. That seemed extremely unrealistic as we live in an age in which theatre to DVD turnaround time is usually a matter of a couple of months. Today an official date has been announced ...

Now mind you this is just rumor for now, but if proven true, it will probably be one of the longest theatrical to DVD transitions ever.

Know what's nifty? Seeing a movie ... liking it ... and then getting the opportunity to chat with the filmmakers. Such is the case this Wednesday as the creative forces behind The Collector (review here), director Marcus Dunstan and writer Patrick Melton, hit Facebook to meet the fans!

We got our hands on a tasty treat for you guys, just in time for Comic-Con weekend: An exclusive clip from Marcus Dunstan's The Collector, which will be screening this weekend at the SDCC and opening in theatres on July 31, 2009.

The official one-sheet for Marcus Dunstan's The Collector emerged today, and it's looking pretty sweet! Get ready to see how much cooler ads can be when your artwork consists of more than just the floating heads of twenty-somethings pretending to be teenagers looking pensive.

Filmmaker Marcus Dunstan, who last week gave Dread Central a peek at his directorial debut The Collector, tipped us off this afternoon to the film’s acquisition by Liddell Entertainment, who will give the flick a wide theatrical release through Freestyle Releasing (the latter responsible for presenting The Haunting of Molly Hartley) on July 31, 2009.
