Let Me In Score to Be Composed by Michael Giacchino

Few items are more crucial to setting the right tone and mood in a film than the score, and based on today’s news that Oscar winning composer Michael Giacchino will be handling that duty for Matt Reeves’ Let Me In, it looks like things are on the right track.

Michael Giacchino’s melodies have enhanced entertainment of all genres, including television shows, feature films, animated shorts, video games, and stand-alone symphonies with themes that run the gamut from driving, melancholic, and suspenseful to serene. He has been nominated twice for an Academy Award® – first, for his score to the animated blockbuster Ratatouille and, more recently, for his score to the critically acclaimed Up, for which he won in the Best Original Score category. Remarkably, Giacchino’s Oscar win was the highlight of an award season in which he collected all of the top prizes for his work on Up – the Golden Globe Award, BAFTA Award, Broadcast Film Critics Choice Award, and two Grammy Awards.
Giacchino’s other notable credits include the score for ABC’s hit shows “Lost” and “Alias,” as well as the feature films Star Trek, Land of the Lost, The Incredibles, Mission: Impossible III, and Speed Racer.
Giacchino studied film production at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and subsequently pursued composition and music studies at both the Juilliard School and UCLA.

Synopsis
Chloe Moretz (Hit Girl from Kick-Ass) stars as Abby, a secretive 12-year old girl, who moves next door to Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee, The Road). Owen is a social outcast who is viciously bullied at school and, in his loneliness, forms a profound bond with his new neighbor. Owen can’t help noticing that Abby is like no one he has ever met before. As a string of grisly murders occupies the town, Owen has to confront the reality that this seemingly innocent girl is really a savage vampire.
