There are not many movies opening in theaters this summer that I find myself anticipating. I feel the same way about the DVD market. On the other hand, as a lifelong fan of old school Japanese giant monster movies, the July 27th DVD release of Tomoo Haraguchi's Death Kappa can't come fast enough for me.
HELL YES! Now this is what we're talking about, damnit! Giant monsters! Destruction! Random acts of violence committed by men in wacky rubber suits! Life is good!
Fans have long been awaiting the arrival of Frank Henelotter's latest film, Bad Biology. Finally the flick is getting set to hit home video and the best part? You'll be able to get your hands on it in just a couple of short weeks!

We caught up with him recently to talk about his latest film, The Machine Girl, which if you haven't seen you need to immediately, if not sooner!
Media Blaster' Fever Dreams label may be best known for splatteriffic Japanese insanity like Machine Girl and Tokyo Gore Police but now they're about to embark on bringing an old school giant monster movie to life with Tomoo Haraguchi, f/x whiz and director of Sakuya Yokaiden and the Kibikichi samurai werewolf flicks, at the helm. Look out world; here comes Death Kappa!
Media Blaster's Tokyo Shock sub-label can always be counted on to provide us with those off the beaten path DVD gems you simply can't find elsewhere. And come this August, 2009, they'll be releasing Yohei Fukuda‘s Chanbara Beauty: The Movie (aka Onechanbara: Zombie Bikini Squad).
Funny how Guilala went from being a giant Japanese monster that only appeared in a lone movie that's mostly unknown to today's audiences yet nearly 40-years later The X From Outer Space has not only returned in a new movie, he's even become a spokesmonster for a jobs' website.
Terry M. West's psychological werewolf novel Dreg has been optioned by the company that has supplied us with great Tokyo Shock titles,
