Well, it’s official; Martyrs helmer Pascal Laugier is in negotiations with Bob & Harvey Weinstein to write and direct the remake of Hellraiser, which you should recall was once in the hands of the French duo behind Inside before their take on the material proved too freaky.
The Weinsteins can’t seem to make up their mind as to who should be at the helm of their ill-conceived Hellraiser remake, having cycled through both the team who made Feast and the team who made Inside, but at least they seem to have settled on using a French director.

It always pains me to have to do a story about a horror personality who is no longer with us, but it’s that much worse when the person is gone of their own hand. Such was the case with French effects man Benoit Lestang, who reportedly committed suicide over the weekend.
As with most years previous, the Midnight Madness lineup at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival is a damn impressive one.

I wish we had reported on this earlier, but I’m actually glad we waited cause this was worth it. By now you’ve likely heard of Pascal Laugier’s Martyrs, a French film that’s been making all sorts of waves since it showed up at Cannes this year. Apparently this is the next big thing in horror, folks.
The Weinstein Company continued to make sure that very few horror films slip through their grasp this weekend with the acquisition of three movies from French sales house The Wild Bunch, according to a story in Daily Variety.
