James Wan’s Netflix Series ARCHIVE 81 Adds Martin Donovan & More

Netflix and James Wan’s eight-part series loosely based on the found footage supernatural horror podcast Archive 81 is developing fast. Case in point, today we hear Martin Donovan (Come To Daddy, Tenet, Insomnia) has joined the series.

Matt McGorry (How To Get Away With Murder) also joins today with Julia Chan (Katy Keene), Evan Jonigkeit (The Night House), and Ariana Neal (Hidden Figures).

They join previously cast including Mamoudou Athie and Dina Shihabi.

The series begins when archivist Dan Turner (Athie) takes a mysterious job restoring a collection of damaged videotapes from 1994, he finds himself reconstructing the work of documentary filmmaker Melody Pendras (Shihabi) and her investigation into a dangerous cult. As Dan is drawn into Melody’s story, he becomes convinced he can save her from the terrifying end she met 25 years ago.

Sounds like good times to me!

Showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys) says: “With Archive 81, we’re hoping to give the supernatural horror genre a new twist — while keeping a dark, deeply emotional romance as its core. Alongside the talented Mamoudou Athie and Dina Shihabi, and visionary partners Atomic Monster and Rebecca Thomas, I’m excited to take Netflix viewers on a terrifying and visually thrilling adventure.”

Rebecca Thomas (Stranger Things) will helm hald the series and executive produce with writer Paul Harris Boardman (The Exorcism of Emily Rose), Michael Clear, podcast co-creators Marc Sollinger and Daniel Powell, and James Wan.
