Horror Manga Legend Junji Ito Was Also Working on Silent Hills

If you’re still grieving over the loss of Silent Hills, then I’m afraid that I’ve got some news that will ruin your day.
Guillermo del Toro revealed on his Twitter that in addition to himself, Hideo Kojima, and Norman Reedus, horror manga legend Junji Ito was also involved with the project.
Del Toro only joined Twitter 11 days ago, and here’s what he had to say about Ito’s involvement via a series of tweets:

Known for his work on series such as Uzumaki, Tomi, and Gyo, Ito would have been an incredible addition to the already impressive list of talents involved with the game. Along with Hideshi Hino, whom del Toro mentioned above, he’s most well known for the “body horror” sub-genre so he would have helped to make the game especially nasty.
It kind of seems like Silent Hills was going to be an Avengers style team-up between a whole bunch of awesome people before Konami unceremoniously pulled the plug. The fact that Konami have gone so damn insane recently and still own franchises like Silent Hill and Metal Gear seems kind of similar to leaving a kid in the custody of an abusive parent who is going to continue to beat them and cause them harm.
But hey, Allison Roads is still raising funds, so at least we might be kind of getting the game. Emphasis on “kind of.”
