It's been a few months since last we heard anything about John Erick and Drew Dowdle's (Quarantine, The Poughkeepsie Tapes) latest horror-thriller based on an M. Night Shyamalan story entitled Devil, but finally there's a bit of progress to report.

Seeing as how the John Dowdle directed Quarantine (review) and M. Night Shyamalan's tale of deadly trees both failed to impress many of us, there's a good chance that combining the power of both filmmakers may produce something semi-quasi-somewhat amusing. Well, we're hoping, at least.

M. Night Shyamalan appears to have no intention of moving away from our genre at all. I guess that's good news for his fans who were not bummed out by The Village, Signs, or even the big windbag known as The Happening (review).

Shyamalan to Produce Night Chronicles

M. Night Shyamalan isn’t fully stepping out from behind his ego yet, but this is a step in the right direction. Variety announced this morning that the man who made The Happening and has yet to apologize for it has inked a deal with Media Capitol Rights to produce a thriller per year under a banner known as The Night Chronicles.
