New Trailer for Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders from Planet Space Shows a Very Familiar Looking Creature

Earth Defense Force is known for its cheap low-budget charm. AAA it ain’t, but fun in its own guilty pleasure style way it is. Nothing is more testament to that than the title of the next game in the series, Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders from Planet Space. I mean, it’s called Planet Space! Come on!
The games in the series are throwbacks to classic giant monster movies, and as you can see in the trailer below, they’ve parodied the typical conventions of a ’50s sci-fi flick.
The trailer also features a very familiar looking giant lizard. They seem to have added a horn to his head to avoid copyright claims, clearly taking note of how Toho took action against Anne Hathaway’s Colossal. Watch the trailer yourself and tell me that creature isn’t obviously meant to be Godzilla.
In addition to “Not Godzilla,” the giant bugs, flying saucers and giant robots look cool. Blowing them to pieces will be a blast.
Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders from Planet Space will be released in the US for the PS Vita on October 20, 2015.
