LOST BOYS Spin-off LOST GIRLS Would’ve Starred Drew Barrymore & Rosanna Arquette

Shortly after the release of The Lost Boys, director Joel Schumacher tried to get a female-led spin-off going called, you guessed it, The Lost Girls. And today we hear via MovieHole that he wanted the spin-off to star “Drew Barrymore and Rosanna Arquette on motorcycles.”

Sounds good to me!

Schumacher wanted to do a film with “gorgeous teenage biker chicks who are vampires” but the powers that be behind the scenes at Warner Bros. didn’t listen to the man. Too bad. Better yet, Schumacher’s spin-off would have featured a couple of crossover characters from his original hit including (somehow) Kiefer Sutherland’s David.

Schumacher also pitched a prequel, set around the 1906 earthquake that he says “could have horses, it could be quite exciting”. Meh. I’ll just take the Drew Barrymore and Rosanna Arquette biker chick spin-off and call it a day, thank you.

The original film centered on teenage brothers Michael (Jason Patric) and Sam (Corey Haim) who move with their mother (Dianne Wiest) to a small town in northern California. While the younger Sam meets a pair of kindred spirits in geeky comic-book nerds Edward (Corey Feldman) and Alan (Jamison Newlander), the angst-ridden Michael soon falls for Star (Jami Gertz) — who turns out to be in thrall to David (Kiefer Sutherland), leader of a local gang of vampires. Sam and his new friends must save Michael and Star from the undead.
