Lloyd Kaufman Stars In New PONS Music Video From Dylan Mars Greenberg [Exclusive]

From the new record label Dedstrange and the mind of Dylan Mars Greenberg comes the music video for “Coral King”, the latest from Brooklyn speed rock band PONS. But this isn’t just any music video. This one stars Lloyd Kaufman being crowned the titular Coral King.
“When making ‘Coral King’ and talking with the band about the concept, I was inspired by Guy Maddin’s films. We all watched his short film ‘Heart of the World’ and agreed that was the way we wanted the visuals to play out. PONS didn’t want to lip-sync in the video; they wanted to focus on the story. In that way it transgressed the medium of the music video and became its own self-contained film,” said Greenberg.
She went on to explain, “It presented an interesting challenge, one that pushed me to rethink the formula of what constitutes a music video. To star in this film, I felt we needed a real personality, someone who stands out from the rest of the characters; luckily my mentor for many years Lloyd Kaufman generously made himself available and added something special to the project.”
PONS burst onto the Brooklyn music scene in 2021 with their unique sound and energy they bring to their live performances. Made up of lifelong friends Sam Cameron and Jack Parker, as well as Sebastien Carnot, PONS had two drummers with Cameron playing the sole guitar. Their music is thunderous and feels like it’s coming right out of your chest.

Director Dylan Mars Greenberg and her All Seeing Eye were the missing pieces that brought these ideas together.
