Lisa Loring, The Original Wednesday Addams, Has Passed Away

Lisa Loring was perhaps most famous for playing Wednesday Addams on The Addams Family from 1964 to 1966. According to her daughter Vanessa, Lorning passed away over the weekend of a stroke, reports Variety.

Famous peers of Loring have taken to social media to share their regards, including Butch Patrick, who played Eddie Munster in the original The Munsters.

“Very sorry to hear of my dear friend Lisa Loring’s passing. We were very close and worked together often. I know she was very weak. I was in her company just a few weeks ago. Godspeed my friend.” wrote Patrick via Facebook.

Lisa Loring began her life in the Marshal Islands with her parents. She resided in Hawaii in her early years before pursuing a career in Hollywood as a young child.

One of Loring’s best-remembered moments on The Addams Family was her frug dance, which had been made famous as memes and GIFs over the past decade. Then just this past autumn, it was brought back into the spotlight when the Netflix Wednesday series did its own interpretation of the dance. Jenna Ortega plays Wednesday on the hit new series.

Aside from The Addams Family, Lisa Loring is remembered for her roles on The Pruitts of Southhampton, The Girl From U.N.C.L.E., Fantasy Island, Savage Harbor, Blood Frenzy, Barnaby Jones and As the World Turns.
