It really shouldn't be this busy on a Friday, but hey, if we gotta work at least we're reporting on Bigfoot movies and not flipping burgers, right? Get ready for more sasquatchploitation in the latest trailer for Savage!

While traffic on Hollywood Boulevard is always a nightmare on any given night, it was the "Black Carpet Premiere" for Platinum Dunes' A Nightmare on Elm Street that really stopped traffic this past Tuesday evening, and of course Dread Central's red carpet team of Heather Wixson and Brian Smith were on hand to talk with cast members about their feelings on this new direction and vision of Freddy Krueger.

With the remake slinking out of the boiler room and into theaters soon, I became intoxicated with revisiting A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master – the most financially successful Nightmare sequel before it was dethroned by Freddy vs. Jason in 2003. The Dream Master took in $49.3 million domestic gross at the box office in ’88, and inspired the production of more Freddy games, toys, dolls, surfboards, pogo sticks, race cars, planes and railway systems than anyone could’ve predicted.

It takes a special final girl to take on Freddy Krueger twice and live to tell about it. Alice Johnson was exactly that girl. Brought to life by actress Lisa Wilcox in the fourth and fifth installments of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, Alice was the only final girl in the series to survive the killer clutches of Robert Englund.

As one of the women of Dread Central, I thought it would be fun to do something a little different in honor of February being Women in Horror Month. Starting in just a couple of weeks we will be running an exclusive interview series called “Final Girls” profiling some of horror’s most kick-ass warrior chicks from the last thirty years.
