Leprechaun in the Hood the Musical: A Novel Makes its Online Debut! It’s been an unusually festive St. Patrick’s Day for horror fans between the first footage of Leprechaun: Origins and Vamprechaun‘s IndieGoGo campaign. But this free online novel may be the strangest and most compelling of them all.

That’s right, kids! Leprechaun in the Hood: The Musical: A Novel is serialized horror delivered by some of the best names in genre literature. Join Cameron Pierce, Adam Cesare, and Shane McKenzie as they bring you an all-new novel built around a musical adaptation of Leprechaun in the Hood.

I know what you’re thinking: “dafuq” or something along those lines, right? Read on for a little bit more clarification, or head on over to Reddit and start reading!

What the hell is this?

Leprechaun in the Hood: The Musical: A Novel is a serial novel that will be released in weekly installments, for free, on Dreadit, the /r/horror Reddit.

It tells the story of what happens when a group of friends try to put on a stage musical based on the film Leprechaun in the Hood, only to end up falling foul of the real-life inspiration for the films, and boy is this leprechaun pissed.

So it’s like fanfiction? I thought there was another subreddit for that kind of stuff…

No! The novel is original fiction that works as an homage and gentle parody of the franchise while telling its own, completely original story. All characters in the novel are original (including our leprechaun) and no copyrighted material is used.

Sounds cool, who are these guys writing it?

Cameron Pierce is not only a Wonderland Award winning author (Die You Doughnut Bastards, Lost in Cat Brain Land), editor (In Heaven Everything is Fine: Fiction Inspired by David Lynch), and a star in the bizarro fiction scene, but he also runs Lazy Fascist Press, an alternative lit publisher. Lazy Fascist and its releases have been covered in the L.A. Times, Forbes, the New York Times Arts Beat, and Business Week.

Horror author Adam Cesare’s novels include Video Night, The First One You Expect and The Summer Job. He’s garnered praise from the likes of John Skipp and Duane Swierczynski. His writing has been featured in Fangoria and The Los Angeles Review of Books.

One of the biggest names in extreme horror, Shane McKenzie is the author of Muerte Con Carne, Pus Junkies and many others. He’s also the co-author of Sixty-Five Stirrup Iron Road (with Brian Keene, Edward Lee, Jack Ketchum, and others) and penned the short film M Is for Matador, which will be featured in ABCs of Death 1.5. He also writes comics for Zenescope.

Where and When Can I find it again?

The first installment will go live on St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th) only on Dredit.
