Leisure BooksAttention wannabe writers! Attention noob writers! Do you want your chance to become rich, famous, and published by one of the largest horror publishers in the business? Leisure Books just announced that, in partnership with Rue Morgue Magazine and horror fiction site ChiZine, they will present a new writing contest specifically for unpublished horror authors. And what will the first prize be, you might ask? It’s an honest-to-goodness publishing contract to have your title out in Leisure’s 2011 line-up.

Here’s what they need from you: 80–90,000 words of your horror-loving best (supernatural or non-supernatural). The finalists will be announced in November. There’ll also be a bunch of sub-contests like “Best First Line,” “Most Frightening Scene,” etc., run on ChiZine’s website that folks can vote on. The grand prize winner will be announced at Rue Morgue’s Festival of Fear in Toronto, Canada, in August, 2010.

If you think you’ve got what it takes, get to scribbling! Entries should be sent to submissions@dorchesterpub.com by September 30, 2009. Make sure you put “Fresh Blood” in the subject line of the e-mail.

For full entry details, visit dorchesterpub.com or chizine.com.
