We live in a future where the captains of industry know the key to raking in buckets of money is to take a pop culture icon we love and transform it into something so irresistibly cute, no child, tween, lady or man who would wish to remain anonymous can say no. Today we get word from the friendly folks of the ZombieZoo, who announce the coming of squishable, adorable animals…that are quite dead. Never was there a more perfect product for the tiny, budding horror fiend in your life.

From the Press Release
Following a successful “soft launch” of its hot new line of collectible plush toys during Holiday 2010, ZOMBIEZOO® marks its formal debut at Toy Fair, February 13 to 16, 2011. Created by award-winning children’s author/illustrator Neecy Twinem, ZOMBIEZOO characters are different and a bit quirky, featuring an unusual story line and unique personalities. Detailed information is available at ZombieZoo.com.

ZOMBIEZOO is unlike any zoo you have ever visited. While it has exotic animals, gift shops, restaurants, moats, fences and a zookeeper, in ZOMBIEZOO, the animals are in charge. “The instant the Zombie critters become your guide, you’re on your way to adventure,” said Twinem. “Let them be your companion and muse. They’re cute and creepy, but never gory. You will be surprised to discover how cuddly these living-dead animals can be!”

The ZOMBIEZOO family of fun loving animals includes Boo the black cat, the natural born leader of the group, and Stich, a pig obsessed with hygiene. Along with their friends, Muck (Monkey), Rob (Rabbit) and Toxic (Snake), original (large) Zombies stand at 12 to 15 inches high, are made of soft fleece and have a lovable “Frankenstein” quality of stitching adorning their bodies and over-sized heads. Zombie minis, replicas of their larger siblings, stand 4-5 inches tall and include a handy clip to attach to backpacks, clothing, etc.

The all-new, six and a half minute long narrated DVD Story-book, titled “Where does Boo go?” contains original artwork by Twinem, funny dialog and original music. The story follows the escapades of Muck, Stich, Rob and Toxic as they try to find out where their buddy Boo disappears to. Along the way their well-meaning curiosity brings about new discoveries in the world of ZOMBIEZOO. A one minute trailer of the DVD is available online (see below). Limited DVD samples are available to media attending the ZOMBIEZOO both at Toy Fair (#4939).

“Shortly after opening Tinhorn Toys I was contacted by Neecy in reference to her children’s books and they quickly became one of best selling items. When Neecy approached me about her new endeavor, ZombieZoo, I did not hesitate and ZombieZoo did not disappoint. These cute and creepy creatures appeal to all age groups and I have many customers returning to acquire the rest of the Zoo after adopting their first…they are that irresistible. With the addition of new DVD story book and a four inch collectible I’m very excited about 2011.”

All ZOMBIEZOO characters are available online and at specialty retailers. Individual Zombie minis are available without the DVD for $7.00 and as a gift set with all of the minis plus the DVD for $34.99. Large Zombies include the DVD Story book and personality tag, which hang around the neck; suggested retail price is $20.99. The personality tags tell their compelling stories to anyone who is looking for a friend and cuddly character to bring home.

As a lover of toys and anything quirky, ZOMBIEZOO creator Neecy Twinem is realizing what has literally been a dream come true with the introduction of the new Zombies. The line was created when Twinem’s cat Boo, the namesake of one of her characters, and greatest muse, whispered the idea of ZOMBIEZOO to her in her sleep. As a collector of anything playfully dead, and a fan of Dia de los Muertos, Twinem had always desired to create a collection of her own.
