Definitely the biggest DVD release this week is the After Dark Horrorfest box set with, if not eight films worth dying for, at least a couple that are worth your time; and the fun of the thing is figuring out which ones they are. That's right, kids! Before the original film makes its way Stateside, Paramount Vantage is already planning a remake of the Australian horror suspense film Lake Mungo.

There’s not a helluva lot more to report, but IMP Awards got their hands on the poster for Lake Mungo, the Australian film about a family mourning the loss of their 16-year-old daughter. Strange events start happening after her burial that force the family to take a hard look at what their little girl was into before she died.

Four Minutes of Lake Mungo

I really can’t help but hate the title for the new Australian spook story Lake Mungo; I wish I could. There’s just something so goofy about it, maybe because it’s so similar to “Mongo”? Whatever the case, the film itself looks pretty slick, as is evident by a four minute clip that showed up over on cinematographer John Brawley’s site.

Vantage to Remake Lake Mungo

I detected some rumblings about Lake Mungo during AFM but have yet to hear anything as to whether or not it’s any good. The Aussie film, which premiered under Darclight at AFM, is now being remade in the States by Paramount Vantage, according to THR this morning.
