Knowing
It's that time of year again: The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films has announced the nominations for its 36th Annual Saturn Awards.
Knowing is one of those films that just keeps sticking around. It could have been something special, but instead it gave us some spectacular imagery and one of the hokiest endings in cinematic history. So of course Trembles has to have the last word on it!
It's a small list of DVD releases with a couple of sequels we had no idea had even been made and two flicks that tried something different but didn't quite pull it off. Without a doubt the pick of the week is the re-release of Kathryn Bigelow's vamp classic Near Dark.

Knowing was a very polarizing film to say the least. It did alright at the box office. Roger Ebert gave it four stars. Most every other critic despised it. I enjoyed it for the hokey leftover Seventies Larry Cohen-style doomsday porn flick it was. Uncle Creepy nearly imploded from the hate he felt for it. Now you too can decide if the Alex Proyas/Nicolas Cage flick was great, terrible, or somewhere in between.
All right, kids! Time to strap in for a double dose of DFF goodness as we tackle both The Haunting in Connecticut and Nicolas Cage's latest disasterpiece -- Knowing!
With Knowing nabbing the #1 slot at the box office (lord only knows why), two people who are the toast of the town are the film's writers, married couple Stiles White and Juliet Snowden. Why should you care? Because they're also the duo who will be responsible for the upcoming Poltergeist and Birds remakes.

One upcoming genre film that's been kind of flying under the radar is Alex Proyas' Knowing. It's probably because of the involvement of its on-again/off-again star, Nicolas Cage, whose last few efforts haven't been exactly stellar.
A whole bunch of films have been granted ratings recently, among them a film or two I’m surprised took this long to settle on a letter for.
Summit Entertainment just released images from their 2009 slate of releases and while there’s not a lot of horror on there, it’s still worth showing you guys. Cause, you know, you’re special.
Alex Proyas is bringing down the apocalypse and just like I always suspected, Nicolas Cage is front and center. Though I never suspected he was one of the four horsemen, more of a stable boy...
I'm no fan of Nicolas Cage, everyone who reads the site on a consistent basis knows this, but I am a fan of The Crow and Dark City director Alex Proyas, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt for his latest film, Knowing, which Cage stars in. You gotta take the good with the bad, right?
How does the director of one of the best, most underrated sci fi movies in the last decade end up working with Nic Cage? Alex Proyas must have pissed off some Aztec deity or something, because Cage is now set to star in his next film, Knowing, according to Daily Variety.
