Writer Michael Kennedy gleefully announced on Twitter yesterday that the upcoming Young Adult slasher flick Time Cut has started shooting:

TIME CUT is BACK TO THE FUTURE meets SCREAM folks. Get ready.”

Kennedy, along with cowriter Soto Patel (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) wrote Time Cut during the lockdown. Time Cut was kept under wraps until Kennedy announced on Twitter back in May that production was a-go, and in the same announcement, he named Antonia B. Gentry (Ginny and Georgia) and Madison Bailey (Outer Banks) as the leads.

The production is still cloaked in mystery; aside from the one behind-the-scenes photo included in Kennedy’s tweet, we know very little about the story. What we do know is that Kennedy and Patel have dived back into the waters of Young Adult Slashers, which proved to be a win with Freaky. Hannah MacPherson, whose credits include Hulu’s Into the Dark and Netflix’s Trinkets will direct Time Cut. With her horror experience, we should be bracing for a great film.

ACE Entertainment, the production company behind To All the Boys and Chris Landon, writer/director of Blumhouse’s Happy Death Day and Freaky have joined forces to produce Time Cut. Michael Kennedy says that he “…cannot wait for y’all to see this bonkers movie led by our amazing leads…”

Kennedy’s scripts have a wonderful blend of horror, comedy, and the nightmare that is being a teenager; and if Freaky was any indication, we are in for an absolute treat when we get to see Time Cut. Stay tuned, as we will be following this one closely!
