"It's it's Halloween... It must be Saw!" is how Lionsgate has touted the latest sequels in the Saw franchise the past few years. They might need a new tagline when Saw VII in 3D comes out next year. This year, if it's Halloween... It must be Paranormal Activity. And a concert film starring a freaky looking dead guy. Not to mention Law Abiding Citizen and Couples Retreat, both of which easily outgrossed Saw VI.

While it's true that in most cases people root for the underdog, it's still a bit hard to believe how dramatically Paranormal Activity toppled reigning October box office champ Saw's sixth installment. But numbers don't lie, and although Saw VI is considered by many (including yours truly) to be the best entry in the series in quite some time, it still wasn't enough to stop the little juggernaut that could, Oren Peli's Paranormal Activity.

The early buzz on Saw VI (review here) is that it's one of the better entries in the series so this latest contest opportunity ought to be of interest to those of you who concur with that assessment. Along with a signed picture of Costas Mandylor as Det. Hoffman, you can also win a certified special and valuable item that was used in the film.

Despite the tagline for Saw V, audiences left theaters last year with only one thing to say: “I can believe how it ends.” But one year and another Saw later, the creators insist that fans will be much happier with the new installment.

Certainly the Saw series has its fair share of diehard fans, but if anything is ripe for spoofing, it's Lionsgate's annual "never say die" installments of the franchise. And that's exactly what talk show host Jimmy Kimmel and his trusty sidekick Guillermo have done in their own version of Saw VI, entitled Boo!

As we approach the October 23rd release date of Kevin Greutert's Saw VI, Lionsgate is pulling out all the stops in terms of promotion, including a nifty new game for fans to sink their teeth into. And break them off. And force feed them to someone as a means to prevent immediate death.
