Ladies and gentlemen, could we finally be looking down the barrel of the first Coffin Joe movie done entirely in English? Production house One Eyed Films is hoping so, as they've added a project on their official site called Santo Amaro: The Bitter Garden
Heaven and Coffin Joe do not mix. But if there is a heaven for Coffin Joe fans, I just experienced it.
I was privileged to attend the premiere of Encarnação do Demônio (The Embodiment of Evil), August 5 in São Paulo, Brazil.
Those of you with cable (a number I blissfully don’t count myself among) will have a lot to look forward to from IFC in the coming months. An article in Variety today reports that London-based One-Eyed Films has just sold a nine-picture package to IFC containing all the Coffin Joe movies!
If all goes well, 2009 just might be the Year of Coffin Joe. But would you believe we’ll also be seeing Jose Mojica Marins ... animated?
There are few characters that engender the type of devotion fans feel toward Coffin Joe. But if you've seen his films, you know he's a unique individual whose badassedness is indisputable.
Nothing makes me happier than having a true icon in the genre return to form in a big way. José Mojica Marins' long awaited official third installment in his Coffin Joe trilogy has swept itself a casket full of awards!
Hungry for more news about Coffin Joe's return to the big screen? You should be. Co-writer of the new film, Dennison Ramalho, updated his official Embodiment of Evil blog with some some news from the film's first ever showing!
