Is there another filmmaker working whose tackled more revisionist projects? It seems like everything this guy does lately is an updated version of an older movie, TV show or piece of literature. So, during Comic Con, Burton announced his next project, which really comes as no surprise.

You know, you can find the craziest things in Japan. A plethora of Godzilla figues, video games based around spanking, great sushi, and even scans of Japanese Warner Bros. press schedules which apparently have the next Burton/Depp collaboration on Dark Shadows listed for a winter of 2010 release.

Vampires have never been more popular than they are right now due to the phenomenon known as Twilight and shows like HBO's "True Blood", but the granddaddy of all soapy vamp themed stuff has always been Dan Curtis' "Dark Shadows". A feature film re-imagining of this famed series may be even closer than we thought.

Johnny Depp is one busy guy these days! Along with playing the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's upcoming Alice in Wonderland and committing to yet another Pirates film, according to Variety, his production company Infinitum Nihil has acquired screen rights to the Nick Tosches novel In the Hand of Dante.

If you can give Tim Burton anything, it’s that he gets his actors to wear some pretty ridiculous things in the name of his art. Take, for example, this candid shot of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter from Burton’s upcoming Alice in Wonderland adaptation. Not what I expected, for sure.

I wonder if there will come a time where Tim Burton and Johnny Depp just admit they’re the same person. I know it’s true, I’ve seen Burton shape-shift into Depp and vice versa, but the public at large just calls me “crazy”. What's my point? Oh, right, the long-proposed Dark Shadows movie...

Ah ha! Finally it has happened -- the inevitable casting of Burton regular Helena Bonham Carter in his latest film, Alice in Wonderland. I knew I should’ve gone to Vegas to get a bet on the timing of this announcement; I could be a very rich man right now.

It's been almost a year since it was first announced that Johnny Depp was working on bringing the 1960's supernatural soap opera "Dark Shadows" to the big screen, and since that announcement all has been very quiet about the project.
