Jodie Foster Will Never Return as Clarice Starling in New HANNIBAL Project

The Silence of the Lambs star Jodie Foster says she’ll never return as Clarice Starling. Why? Because no one asked her to return for the first sequel, Hannibal.

Foster tells Happy Sad Confused podcast: “There’s been some stuff over the years about reprising [Clarice], but both [director Jonathan Demme] and I were both disappointed not to do the sequel. I have never watched that one.”

In case you forgot, she’s talking about Julianne Moore replacing her as Clarice in Ridley Scott’s Hannibal with Anthony Hopkins as Dr. Lecter. But maybe it’s for the best. After all the franchise has been killing it on TV with Hannibal and now The Silence of the Lambs sequel series Clarice on CBS. The new show follows Rebecca Breeds as Clarice in the time shortly after the events of Silence of the Lambs.

All of this said Foster was a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, last year-ish. And she returned as Clarice in a parody with Colbert as Hannibal.

Silence of the Lambs stars Foster as Clarice who’s asked to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist and violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for acts of murder and cannibalism. Higher-ups believe Lecter may have insight into a case and Starling, an attractive woman, maybe the bait to draw him out.

Are you bummed Jodie Foster will never return as Clarice Starling?
