Exclusive: Jon Knautz Talks The Shrine, Jack Brooks Sequel, and More

We've been anxiously awaiting Jon Knautz’s next genre effort ever since having the opportunity to check out his 2008 horror comedy Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer. It seems that the wait is finally over for us as well as legions of other fans as Knautz’s latest, The Shrine, is set to hit VOD platforms tomorrow (July 15).

Wondering what Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer (review here) director Jon Knautz is working on next? For a while we thought it was a return of the monster slayer, but that's not the case.

    Plot Synopsis:

    Jack Brooks decides to retire from monster slaying, but not before taking one last job. Soon he finds himself helping stop a man with an evil plot to summon the demon Legion.

    Though there’s not a lot of meat to it yet, the ghouls over at STYD got their hands on the log line for Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer 2, which is currently in the scripting stages with director Jon Knautz and star Trevor Matthews penning the screenplay.
