Ivan Kavanagh’s The Canal will be playing in select theaters day-and-date with VOD on October 10th, and to help get you ready for it, here’s our exclusive interview with him at the eerie film’s premiere during Tribeca 2014.
Irish writer/director Kavanagh discusses with Dread Central the strengths of horror as a vehicle for low-budget but expressive and inventive filmmaking, reflects on some of his own influences and favorites from the genre, and shares a few nostalgic video store VHS memories.

Synopsis:
The creepy Irish horror film THE CANAL tells the story of a film archivist (Evans) who finds his suspicions about a possible infidelity by his wife (Hoekstra) taking a darker turn—that might be connected to the murderous history of their house and the growing possibility of the presence of an otherworldly entity. When his wife vanishes, all eyes turn to him as the suspect. As his world crashes in, he finds himself struggling on the borders between madness and the supernatural.
A return to the classic, slow burn style of horror, THE CANAL is both a chilling tale of the unknown and an unsettling mystery.
